Vinterbørn

A maternity ward in Copenhagen, a place where women admitted some time before the birth of their children due to potential complications come together. In their midst is kindergarten teacher Marie, who doesn’t receive any support from the father of her future child. At the hospital, she meets women in similar situations, and despite all their differences in personality, age, background and resources, a sense of solidarity emerges among them, as all of these women have to live with a situation and future that is lacking in security. Directed with sensitivity and a lack of sentimentality, VINTERBØRN won the Silver Bear at the Berlinale in 1979. (al)
